Bluegrass Cellular Classic at Central Hardin

BLUEGRASS CELLULAR CLASSIC AT CENTRAL HARDIN:

We opened up tournament play against traditional power and perennial top 10 team in Covington Holmes.  Holmes will be the most athletic team we will see all year and we played our best game of the year to come away with a 65-57 victory.  We build a 12 point lead at half only to see it completely disappear in the 3rd quarter.  However, we responded very well in the 4th quarter and build the lead by to double digits before winning by 8.  We were led in scoring by Ollie Roberts with 26 and he also collected 8 rebounds to lead us in that category.  Other double figure scorers for the game were Trey Tinsley with 13 (hitting 3 3 pointers) and Ethan Meredith with 11.  Brady Clemons did not score in the game but had 5 assists to lead us.

In the semi-final game against Greenwood it was a completely different game.  It was a slug fest from the very beginning and we were fortunate to get out with a hard fought win 47-39.  We had 3 double figures scorers this game and was led by Ollie Roberts' 23, followed by Ethan Saltsman and Trey Tinsley with 11.  Ollie pulled down 14 rebounds to lead us and also tied with Ethan Saltsman for the assists lead with 3.

Championship Game:

We had a rematch with tournament host Central Hardin for the championship and this time we came out on top by the score of 57-42.  After being down 5 at the half, we played great defense in the second half and did not give up an offensive rebound to pull away in the 3rd quarter.  We led 42-33 going into the last period.  We again held Central to a single digit quarter to pull way with the 15 point win.  We had a very balanced scoring attack but we were led for the 4th game in a row by Ollie Roberts who scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds.  Ethan Saltsman narrowly missed a double double by scoring 13 points and pulling down 9 rebounds.  Brady Clemons scored 9, followed by Ryne Tinsley with 6, Trey Tinsley with 5 and Ethan Meredith with 4.

Ollie Roberts was chosen as the Outstanding Player of the Tournament and was joined on the all tournament team by Ethan Saltsman, Brady Clemons and Ethan Meredith.
