On Friday, Jan. 22nd we played the #1 team in the region (according to Lit Ratings) and came away with a 57-54 victory over the Muhlenberg County Mustangs.
We jumped out to a quick 18-8 lead after the first quarter as Travis Johnston scored 7, Tyler Saltsman scored 5 and Brady Clemons had 4. In the second quarter the game changed drastically with about 3 minutes to play. We were leading by 12 but Muhlenberg went on a big run to cut the lead to 29-26 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter we traded baskets and Muhlenberg eventually took a 33-31 lead before we took the lead for good. We led 39-35 going into the 4th quarter.
We made enough plays down the stretch and while we didn't make very many free throws we did make enough to pull out the 3 point win. Our balance was the difference in the game as all 5 starters took turns making big plays for us.
For the game we shot 45% but were only 8-18 from the foul line. We committed 8 turnovers and won the rebounding battle. We pulled down 13 offensive rebounds to 5 for the Mustangs.
Travis Johnston had 22 points and 8 assists while Aaron Deviney just missed a double double with 8 points and 13 rebounds. Aaron was chosen Player of the Game.
