Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic

After Christmas we played in one of the two toughest tournaments in Kentucky. We were invited to the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic. We won 1 game and lost 2 in during our stay in Lexington.

In the first game we played a very good Mercer County team who came into the game with an 8-3 record. We feel behind by 12 at the half, 38-26, but played much better in the second half. In the 3rd quarter we held the high scoring Titans to 9 points while scoring 18 of our own to only trail by 3 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter we tied the score at 61 with a minute to play and Mercer Co. decided to hold for the last shot. They turned the ball over with 5.6 seconds to play and we took the last shot, a 3 pointer from Brady Clemons as time expired. We took our first lead in the game at 67-66 when Hunter Gary nailed a 3 pointer from the wing with 2:30 to play in the OT. We never trailed again as Travis Johnston and Aaron Deviney hit some free throws down the stretch to give us the 72-68 overtime victory.

Aaron Deviney was chosen Player of the Game for his 18 points and 10 rebounds. We had a very balanced attack for the game with 3 players getting double-doubles.
