Apollo Rematch

For the second time in a week we beat the Apollo Eagles. The game was at Apollo and the final score was 49-48 in double overtime.

We started very slowly and Apollo led 13-6 after one quarter but we outscored the Eagles 14-4 in the second quarter to lead 20-17 at the half. Travis Johnston hit 2 3 pointers in the last minute to give us the 3 point lead.

In the second half neither team could get much offense going, but we built a 37-32 lead with about 2 minutes to play but committed 4 consecutive turnovers to give Apollo a chance to tie and to send the game into overtime. In the first overtime period we again had a chance to win the game but couldn't convert at the end. In the second overtime Apollo took a 1 point lead with 20 seconds left but Bennett Skaggs was fouled with 13 seconds to go and stepped to the line and made both free throws. We dropped back into a zone and Apollo fired a 3 that was off and Bennett rebounded the ball and was fouled with 2 seconds left and we escaped with the victory.
