In our first game of the year vs. Trinity we defeated the Raiders 62-46 at GCHS. We got off to a blazing start and led 22-9 at the end of the first period. However, in the first period we lost Wes Smith a minute into the game when he went up for a rebound and landed on his back. He left the floor under his own power but bruised his lower back and did not return. His status for Friday's game vs. Edmonson is still questionable.
We shot a 23-55 from the floor for 42% and 11-18 from the line for 61%. Trinity shot 16-40 for 40% and 11-18 from the line. We had 29 rebounds to Trinity's 25 but we won the offensive rebounding battle 12-5.
We were led by Bennett Skaggs' and Travis Johnston's 22 points while Lance Buckler pitched in 10 points in a starting role. Travis also led us with 8 steals and Seth Bratcher led us with 6 assists. Dustin Thomas was the leading rebounder with 6.
